Riviera del Conero

The Riviera del Conero is a part of the promontory of the Marche coast, under the Conero Mountain, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. This place, like many others on the coast near Ancona, has a special charm. You go down to the beach that you can walk after parking the car not too far away. You live the sea in full contact with nature, because you can see the green, the sea, the Monte Conero.

In these stretches of beach you can spend the whole day because there are small bars and good restaurants. You can have lunch in front of a magnificent view. This rocky projection, draws the outline of the beaches , creating movement to the coast and forming coves. Here, You can find sandy and pebble beaches. On this side we can visit the Portonovo coast with a part of the beach and the coves accessible by boat. Near Portonovo there is a natural oasis , the beach of Mezzavalle.

These places are very beautiful and the contact with nature is full. At the foot of the Mount, in a wooded expanse you can find the beach of St. Michael and the Sassi Neri, here we are in the territory of Sirolo. In this territory there is also another beach very impressive and made of white sand called the Two Sisters for the two stacks that rise on the coast. If you want instead to live a sea more modern, more traditional , you can go down to the south, and spend a day on the beach of Porto Recanati, Numana or one with the pebble beach with shallow waters.

In the summer there is always a lot of tourism thanks to the tranquility of the Marche region that has many unexplored territories of extraordinary beauty. If you go during the summer near the city of Ancona , you can seize the opportunity to spend a day in this quaint seaside.

Urbino

The Roman city of Urbino is one of the most beautiful Italian cities that history has given us with monuments and historic buildings. It has been a place of attraction for many scholars and artists. It covers an area dominated by hills, Northern Apennines and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines . This city has great architectural beauty and a great history, it’s a World Heritage UNESCO Site.

It was the center of the battle for the Gothic Wars and came under the dominion of the Franks and the Lombards. Piero de Benedetto de’ Franceschi known as Piero della Francesca, the famous Italian painter and mathematician , at the court of Urbino wrote treatises on the science of perspective. In the papal territories of Pope Urban VIII , the architect Giuseppe Valadier designed the new Cathedral of the early 1800s. Here lived the great painter Raffaello Sanzio, in his honor it has been dedicated a monument in front of the Palazzo Ducale. Urbino is candidate as “European Capital of Culture 2019“.

There are considered the major museums in Italy , such as the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, The House of Raffaello, which would house the Saints , the Archaeological Museum Lapidary where there are stone artifacts from the Roman era, the Albani Diocesan Museum , the Museum of the City, The Pierina Scaramella Botanical Garden, Museum of Gypsum, Urbinate Engraving Museum , Museum of the Cabinet of Physics of the University . Urbino is located in the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts and the School of the Book. Here there are sessions of Graphic Arts, equivalent to university courses. And the University named “Carlo Bo”, which has built over the years “Urbino Campus“.

It is also home to one of the twelve original Egyptian obelisks. There are many churches like the Convento of San Francesco, the Church of San Domenico , the Church of St. Sergius , the former Convent of the Discalced Carmelites, the former Convent of St. Jerome and St. Augustine to the Church of the Santissima Annunziata , the Cathedral , the church of Santa Chiara,, the Church of San Bernardino, become Mausoleum of the Dukes. There are numerous historical palaces and villas to visit. The climate is mild enough thanks to the geographical position . In about three quarters of an hour you can reach the city of Fano and Pesaro, so the sea. Urbino is one of the major tourist place to visit to know the beauty and history of Italy.

 It is considered a Campus for the presence of the University Carlo Bo , has more students than inhabitants. This University is one of the oldest in Europe, founded in 1506. It has a wall which was used to control the city. Among the places to visit we can include the Doge’s Palace , a beautiful Renaissance building , within which there are paintings by Raffaello, Piero della Francesca and Giovanni Bellini. The Duomo, where you can admire the Last Supper by Barocci. The church of San Bernardino to a couple of kilometers from the city and the Botanical Garden that contains rare plants.

Recanati

The town of Recanati, known for being the birthplace of the great poet and writer Giacomo Leopardi, covers a hilly area. A short distance we can find the Adriatic Sea and Mount Conero. Its altitude, 296 meters above sea level, and its strategic location, make it like a balcony on the nature. In fact, from Recanati, you can see the sea, near Monte Conero, but also gli Appennini Mountains and the Sibillini Mountains, Vettore Mountain, the Strega Mountain and the Catria Mountain.

In this city you can visit the House of Giacomo Leopardi with his immense library and the Hill of Infinity, where the poet went for inspiration and meditation and compose in contact with the beautiful scenery underside. Recanati is the World Center of Poetry and Culture. It was born here also the artist of the Italian lyric song Beniamino Gigli in one of the beautiful stately buildings of the eighteenth century. Recanati has a theater, the Teatro Persiani, which hosts performances of great depth with famous actors and musicians. There are Palazzo della Stella Masucci, Carancini Palace, Palace Venieri and many others beautiful palaces to visit. You can also visit the many churches like the Church of Santa Maria di Castelnuovo, the Church of San Francesco, the Church of St. Vitus, the Cloister of St. Augustine. At the center of the city there is the beautiful Piazza Leopardi with the statue of the poet, near the Torre del Borgo. Recanati is a town of history and culture, definitely worth visiting.

Porto San Giorgio

Porto San Giorgio is developed on the Adriatic Coast. It ‘a small city, but it is very busy in the summer. It has a lot of attractions thanks to its harbor, the sandy beaches, the seaside, the nightclubs, the parks and the supermarkets. We could say that is one of those places in the world that come to life in the summer and are home to many thousands of holidaymakers of all ages, including foreigners attracted precisely by the possibility of summer holidays. Here you can visit the Church of St. George in 1830, La Rocca, in the form of a quadrilateral towers and merlons, Villa Bonaparte commissioned by Prince Jerome Bonaparte and dating back to 1826, the Teatro Comunale. The story describes it as an extension of the city of Fermo, just for the chance to build a port. From here, you can reach in a short time the mountains and the other marchigian coastal cities such as Ancona, Recanati, Groton, San Benedetto del Tronto.

Offida

Offida is one of the quaint towns of the Marches Region which stands on a rocky outcrop. This territory seems almost designed by the passage of the two rivers on either side. From the north the river Tesino and from south the Tronto River. The land area of Offida grows at an altitude of about 293 meters above the sea level. It is characteristic for its beauty and for its history under the Holy Roman Empire. It participated actively in the struggles with Fermo City against Ascoli Piceno, one of the famous Guelphs and Ghibellines struggles. It is definitely a place to visit. For some years now it has become part of the “most beautiful villages in Italy”.

Around the center that breathes history and you can admire the beauty flaunted from the churches such as Santa Maria della Rocca which is considered one of the greatest monuments in the Marche region . There are the two most important churches of the town, the Shrine of St. Augustine and the Chiesa della Collegiate . The town hall has a central tower with battlements and presents an arcade with seven arches and an elegant loggia in fourteen arches.

The building overlooks the Piazza del Popolo, and near to here is the Fontana del Mietitore, in Piazza Valorani. The “Serpente Aureo Theatre” often hosts opera and many comedies , giving life to a theatrical activity important. The most important events that attract visitors are the traditional carnival Offida and the Exhibition of wine from the hills of Piceno which takes place in early September. Offida has a strategic location, in a few minutes you can go to Ascoli Piceno and San Benedetto del Tronto.

Montalto

Montalto delle Marche is a country that is spread over a hilly area about 515 meters above the sea level. It is the city of Felice Peretti, Pope Sixtus V. And it is the city of the great architect Giuseppe Sacconi, designer of the Vittoriano in Rome. Pope Sixtus V gave to the citizens of Montalto a beautiful shrineHere, you can visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the Church of St. Nicholas in the Baroque style, the Church of St. Peter, the House of Clergy, the Governor’s Palace, where now there are the Town Hall and the Archaeologic Museum with the Civic Gallery. To see some historic buildings such as Palazzo Sacconi, Palazzo Paradisi and Palazzo Massimari. The location of this area is strategic, in fact, here you can see the Maiella Mountain and Gran Sasso Mountain, the Ascension Mountain , the Sibillini Mountains and Mount Carrier Mountain. There are places for walking and breathe clean air. Here you can admire the scenery of mountains and countryside. Here in half an hour you can reach both the sea and the mountains.

Macerata

The town of Macerata is situated on a hilly area and reaches an altitude of about 315 meters from the sea level. The location is very good since it is located between the countryside and the hills not far from the sea. The landscape, like the vast majority of the hilly landscapes of the Marche region, is really impressive. This is a city characterized by green spaces , starting from the Giardini Diaz , to arrive at Villa Lauri and Parco del Sasso d’ItaliaMacerata has one of the oldest university, specialized in Law.

The theatrical culture is innate and spontaneous for a town that revolves around the wonderful theater, il Marche Arena Sferisterio, which hosts many shows of various genres , including opera to great levels. Especially in the summer there are many events planned with professional known actors.

In the heart of the historic center there is Piazza della Libertà. On this large square you can see “La Loggia dei Mercanti”, The Church of St. Paul, The Palace of the Prefecture , the Theatre Rossi, The Clock Tower. In the surrounding area, there are many factories of fashion excellence including footwear , clothing, furniture The short distance from the coast and the mountains, the natural surroundings, the places of interest, allow you to spend good holidays. Here you can visit places of interest such as the Abbey of Fiastra Frasassi, the town of Civitanova Marche and its harbor, the Sibillini Mountains. In forty-five minutes you can reach the Riviera delle Palme and San Benedetto del Tronto.

Loreto

The town of Loreto is one of the Italian cities particularly influenced by the Catholic Religion. After Rome with the Vatican, Loreto is a symbol of the Marian Catholicism, represented by the “Basilica della Santa Casa di Nazareth“.

From nearby cities you can see the beautiful and impressive cathedral. It is in the “Piazza della Madonna” which also houses the monument to Pope Sixtus V. In this square we respect the silence , as if the prayer continued outside of the churches. The pilgrimage is a constant, but there are also many shops. There is also the Polish military cemetery where they were buried over a thousand Polish soldiers who died during the Second World War. Around the city there is a wall of the fourteenth century, built to defend against Turkish incursions from the Adriatic. In Loreto you can come for cultural travel and for leisure activities. This part of Adriatic coast is nice. The sea is clean.

Frasassi

In the Marche region between the countryside and the hills, in the Regional Park of Gola della Rossa , there are Frasassi caves.

The formations of stalactites and stalagmites, layers of limestone formed from the top to bottom and from the bottom to top, give to these caves a particular beauty and they attract tourism from all over Italy and from the world. They were defined like underground buildings of historical and anthropologicalThere are three routes on the basis of the length and the difficulty of exploration. The tour is very impressive and shows how nature can change certain places, at certain temperatures and over time. They are to visit.

Fermo

The town of Fermo is located on the Sabulo’s hill. It is near the mountains and the sea. The main square, Piazza del Popolo, is very nice with the two rows of loggias on the sides. On it there is Palazzo dei Priori, where you can visit the “Sala del Mappamondo” (Globe Hall) and the town library.

The territory is bounded by walls. Here you can visit the historic churches of St. George, and that of the Holy Souls . Other recommended places are the municipal theater built in the eighteenth century , named Teatro dell’Aquila. Ther are other nice places like Villa Vitali (town park) in which we organize theater performances and music concerts outdoors. You also can stroll in the green area at the Girfalco close to the Duomo and in Villa Vinci. This town is not far away from many beautiful coastal towns on the Adriatic Riviera, like Porto San Giorgio, Cupra Marittima, Grottammare, San Benedetto del Tronto.

Pedaso

On the Adriatic coast is spread over the town of Pedaso, which, like most of the coastal towns, is populated by a lot of people during the summer. The name refers to the Aso River. Here you can visit The church of St. Mary and St. Peter the Apostle who is very recent and it was completed in the early years of the twentieth century. The municipality, the public park and the small town theater are the most historic and characteristic places of the territory. The Lighthouse is the symbol of Pedaso dating back to 1877.

Pedaso’s bike path allows walking, jogging and biking. In summer there are festivals and theater events . The most important summer event is that the Mussels Sagra (characteristic festival). The municipality with the Proloco Association are activated very well for the shows in the theater hall and outside in public parks. This stretch of sea with sandy beaches, rocks and cliffs, received the “blue flag” for the order and clean bathing water, like most of the beaches of the Adriatic Coast.
